About This Retreat
This Yoga Therapy retreat continues teachings on the physiology and benefits of pranayama from a yogic and scientific perspective. As yoga practitioners, we are aware of the positive impact of pranayama practices on our mind, as well as a preparatory tool for meditation. Over the last few years, there has been extensive research on the breath and its impact on the autonomic nervous system, stress reduction, the heart variability, the health of the blood vessels, blood pressure and neurotransmitters. Dr Hania will explain this research and its application so that you as a yoga practitioner can understand and apply these modern scientific insights, which confirm the ancient teachings of pranayama.
Worldwide, the use of drugs for depression, anxiety and sleep disorders, with their known side - effects, is steadily increasing. However, pranayama can be used as an alternative, is free of charge and has no side-effects. Pranayama techniques are also excellent tools for connecting us with our conscious state of being.
During this course, we will deepen our understanding of lung anatomy, breathing physiology and yogic breathing. You will learn how to recognise and correct pathological breathing patterns. We will also explore the impact of inhalation and exhalation on the autonomic nervous system, as well as practising selected pranayama techniques to optimise and expand our breathing capacity.
This subject was given last year in May and was much appreciated. This course continues these teachings, but the emphasis will be on practice, enabling serious yoga practitioners to deepen their experience and understanding of the therapeutic effects of pranayama. To ensure sufficient quality time of contact between student and teacher, the attendance will be restricted to 18 participants.
