Surya Namaskar - Sun Salutations
By Tulsi
In this session, Tulsi teaches the practice of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations).
Although not strictly speaking an asana, or part of traditional yoga, it is an important practice that offers a range of benefits. As such it's a valuable element to include in a daily yoga programme.
The flowing sequence of movements provides a full-body workout, loosing up the joints, flexing all the muscles in the body, massaging the internal organs, activating the respiratory and circulatory systems, and toning all the other systems of the body.
The variation of Surya Namaska taught here is from the Bihar School of Yoga tradition.
The practice is 25 minutes long and be practiced at any time of day (not only with the rising sun).
